Back in the 1960s, the original TV series at least captured the off-beat humor in a warm and friendly manner. The characters were lovable.
The Addams Family is based on a newspaper comic strip that was started in the early 1900s. It is very old and dated at this point. The Addams Family was really making fun of immigrants, and how people perceived them and their lifestyles as odd or creepy back in the early 1900s. Even back in the 1960s, The Addams Family was behind the times.
Now it is over a hundred years later, and the concept of an off-beat wacky family of monsters just isn't funny anymore. The Kardashians are probably a better example of The Addams Family of freaks. Hollywood needs to leave The Addams Family in the past, and give them a permanent rest.
